I’ve always been a voracious reader. In my book, The Deadly Art of Deception, Caribou King shares my love of books. Even though she has to send away for them via Kenny the mailman, she has bookshelves full of mysteries to keep her company during the long Alaskan winters. I have shelves full of books and even more on my e-reader and I bet you do too.
Let me show you what I’m reading now.
Two Bodies in the Back Yard by Steve Demaree is book 11 of his Dekker Cozy Mystery series, Christian police procedurals featuring now-retired detectives Cy Dekker and Lou Murdock. Cy is being forced back into service in this book and I can hardly wait to find out who the killer is. You might want to start on book one, 52 Steps to Murder. While each book stands alone, there are inside jokes and progression of the characters that make it more satisfying if you’ve been along for the ride.
Sharpe Mind by Lisa B. Thomas is book 3 of her Cozy Suburbs Mystery series, set in suburban Texas. I’ve enjoyed the first two books of this series, featuring low-key reporter Deena Sharpe and I’m looking forward to diving into the third. I’ve read them as quickly as they’ve come out, but you can get the books in a set.
The Sweet Taste of Murder by CeeCee James is the first of her Angel Lake Mysteries. James is a new author to me and I’m always excited to discover new authors. It’s classic cozy – amateur sleuth determined to clear the name of her best friend who is suspected of murder. I’ll let you know what I think or if you’ve read it, let me know what you thought.
I have just released a box set of the first three books in my Jake and Emma Mystery series. I’ve called the set Casper Crime Boss Trilogy since the common thread through all three books is the mysterious criminal mind behind the murders.
If you’ve already read the books, this would give you a good opportunity to introduce someone else to the series as a gift. The fifth book, Body on the Ballot, is due out December 15 so if you’re behind, here’s your chance to catch up!
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is here and I’ve been working on the second Caribou King book, The Deadly Art of Love and Murder, which I hope will be out in the Spring. Caribou is published by Cozy Cat Press. By the way, Cozy Cat is going to be publishing a cook book featuring recipes from their authors. You’ll be able to get the recipe for Bent’s Moose Burgers, so you might want to follow them on Facebook so you’ll know when it comes out.
As you know, I’m an Amazon Associate. That means when you buy a book I’ve recommended, I get a small (trust me, really small) finder’s fee. I don’t control the books that come up in the ads (see below) but you have my promise that I will NEVER recommend a book in my blog that I don’t think you’ll like. I know how hard it is to find good books in the sea of books out there, so that’s why I recommend them. Being an Associate simply helps enable this starving artist to keep writing books that I hope you love.
